Jaipur also famously called the “Pink City” was built in 1727 by King Jai Singh, after whom it was named. It’s most striking and conspicuous feature is the pink wash applied to the buildings, giving Jaipur its title, the 'Pink City'. Jaipur, a regal city with its fairy - tale palaces, rugged fortresses, and extraordinary architectural splendor is an absolute delight. Jaipur's craft, especially gloss bangles are famous all over the world. Several of the palaces, once the home to the Maharajas have been changed to heritage hotels.

Hawa Mahal

This 'Palace of the Wind' (Hawa Mahal) is an interesting part of the city palace, one of the most famous palaces in Jaipur. It was built by Sawai Pratap Singh, to enable the ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday activities and the royal processions of the city.

The City Palace

The fort of the Kachchawah Rajput rulers of Jaipur, this palace is home to a museum with a superb collection of costumes and armory of the Rajputs & Mughals. The enormous complex occupies one seventh of the walled city of Jaipur and is a brilliant blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture.

Statue Circle

The full length elegantly carved statue of Sawai Jai Singh in white marble right in the middle of the circle is a landmark in a recently designed residential area with an intention of paying homage to the founder of Jaipur.

Jal Mahal

This striking and picturesque palace amidst the Man Sagar Lake was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 A.D for royal duck shooting parties. During winters, a great number of migratory birds land at the lake. The red sandstone palace is located 6.5 km from Jaipur on the way to Amber. A walkway from the main land, leads to the palace.

Govinddev Ji ka Mandir

widely prayed deity of Jaipur is Govinddevji, Lord Krishna. The temple is positioned between the Chandra Mahal and the Badal Mahal in the city palace complex, with the intention that the rulers of the state could see the temple from their homes. The temple attracts huge number of devotes specially during 'Janmashtmi', Lord Krishna’s birthday.

Amber Fort and Palace

It is one of the most wonderful destinations in Jaipur located on the hills about 11km out of Jaipur, built by Raja Man Singh in 1600 AD, continued by Raja Jai Singh and then concluded to its present form by Sawai Jai Singh in the eighteenth century. The fort is an excellent example of an enthralling blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture built in red sandstone and white marble.

Rani Sisodia's Garden and Palace

This terraced garden is situated 8 km from Jaipur on the Agra route, built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1728 for his Sisodia Queen from Udaipur. Its beautiful gardens laid in Mughal style include stunning paintings of the life of Lord Krishna.

Galtaji

An ancient pilgrimage centre lying ahead of the gardens amidst low hills is Galtaji. Temple’s, pavilions and sacred kunds (natural spring and water tanks) along with a lush countryside make it an enjoyable picnic spot. The small temple of the Sun God built by Diwan Kriparam atop the uppermost peak is visible from all parts of the city.
