India is one of the oldest civilizationsin thw world. A quarter of its population as of today lives in the cities. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata are the four major metropolitan cities in the Country. India as a whole has around twenty-eight states and seven union territories. Each of these cities have a very different culture and yet, are brought together by the common feeling of nationalism. Over the last few years, several other cities apart from the metros have shown signs of great development. The urban cities of the country are also major centers for industries and play an important part in the development of the country.
The traditional and cultural values of India are not given up in spite of the westernization of these cities. Indian cities are always full of enthusiasm for both the conventional and the adventurous sides. This feeling among these cities never fails to inspire people who visit them.
Eventhough Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata were one of the first to start a spirit of cosmopolitanism into the Country. Other states like Bangalore and Hyderabad soon became cosmopolitans by following suit. While Bangalore and Hyderabad are famous as the IT hubs. Mumbai is very famous as the film city. Kolkata is known as the "city of joy" of the Country. Delhi is the political capital and home to all the ruling sections of the society.
