DELHI

New Delhi, the capital of India, is the third largest city in the country. This sprawling city is divided into Old Delhi and New Delhi, giving the feel of the old and the new, with its early historical monuments scatter with soaring skyscrapers, embassies and busy commercial complexes. The city, a major travel gate way center has excessive climates with extreme heat waves during summer and chilly winters.

India Gate

In memory of 90,000 soldiers of the Indian army killed during First world war, an imposing stone structure was built towards the east end of the Rajpat. The names of the soldiers are inscribed on the stone which is a 42 meter high triumphal arch that stands on a base of Bharatpur stone, designed by Edward Lutyens that took 10 years to complete. Its foundation stone was laid on 10th February 1921 by the Duke of Connaught. There is an Amar Jawan Jyoti beneath the Arch to honor the 'Indian Armed Forces' losses in the Indo Pakistan War of 1971. A helmet built on a rifle surrounded by 4 eternal flames is characteristic of the place.

Raj Ghat

This simple square platform made of black marble resting on the banks of the river Yamuna marks the place where Mahatma Gandhi, father of the Nation, was cremated. “Hey Ram”, his last words are engraved on the platform which is enclosed by a quiet and peaceful Garden.

Jantar Mantar

This Unique structure was built by the Rajput King Jai Singh in 1724. It was said to be built with machinery equipment to observe the movement of the stars and planet. The amazing compilation of large masonry instruments include the Samrat Yantra and the Jai Prakash Yantra.

Pragati Maidan

It is a huge complex with well laid out roads, fountains, garden, lawns and eating joints. Venue of the annual India International Trade fair and other International/National Trade Fair . One of the main attractions of the complex is APPU GHAR, based on the concept of Disneyland.

Mughal Garden

Mughal Garden is situated to the west of Rashtrapathi Bhavan. This well-designed garden was planned by Lutynes. The garden occupies an area of 13 acres, is separated into three sections (rectangular, long and circular gardens) and is an interesting mix of the Mughal style with a touch of British. The Mughal style canals, fountains and terraces at various levels with flowering shrubs and the Western style lawns, hedges and flower beds is a visual delight. The garden grows an array of trees and flowers like roses, marigold, bougainvillea, sweet William and many others.

Badkal Lake

Badkal Lake is located in Faridabad which is a mere 20 minutes drive from South Delhi. This natural lake bordered by small hills is an ideal picnic spot. Boating facilities are available too.

Charity Birds Hospital

Opposite to the Lal Quila at Netaji Subhash Marg(Road) is an amusing and unusual attraction, a hospital for birds. It was started in 1956 by Jains. This 3 storied hospital treats vegetarian birds and rabbits. It includes an intensive care unit and a research laboratory too. The birds are fed, bathed and given nutritious food. One can see flocks of birds swirling around the premises.

Train: Trains run from all the parts of the country to Delhi.

Road: Buses from all the major places in U.P, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are available for getting to Delhi.
