It is not easy to count the number of hill stations in India. There are around seven mountain ranges, including the great Himalayas. The Himalaya’s have some very high peaks with amazing heights. There are also many glaciers and valleys whaich have an unbelievable quantity of vegetation's and wildlife, a huge range of forests. There are many streams, waterfalls that are surrounded in fog and mist with beautiful hill stations and resorts. The hill stations in India are places of exotic beauty, and a thrilling experience.
The best thing to do in a hillstation is to holiday. Other than the common hill stations like Darjeeling, there are many more hill stations around eastern India, like, Gangtok, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Mirik, Shillong, Imphal and others in the Himalayan and other allied mountain ranges.
In the Southern India, theWestern Ghats are covered with a number of spots with the misty hilly top. The Eastern Ghats are around the Eastern Coast of the country. Ootacamund (Ooty), Kodaikanal the Nilgiri's and Palni hills, are the more popular hill stations in this part of the country. The silence and beauty seen in Munnar and wayanad highlands in Kerala are very enchanting. Anamudi is one of the highest peaks of Munnar and a very nice trekking spot.

The north India is an area with many kinds of hill stations. Auli, Garhwal, Ranikhet, Mussoorie, Nainital, Shimla, Dalhousie, Kasauli, Kullu, Manali, Chamba, Dharamshala, Gulmargand and other locations in Jammu and Kashmir are few you can name.
